Job Title: Senior Lawyer - Complex Injury Claims

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join our Complex Injury team in Newcastle. As a Senior Lawyer, you will be responsible for handling large loss and catastrophic injury claims, working closely with our team of experts to provide exceptional legal service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handling your own case load of large loss RTA claims, mostly valued between £25,000 and £100,000, with some cases up to £150,000.
  • Forensic analysis of quantum evidence, preparing chronologies, identifying anomalies, and other relevant information across various sources and categories of evidence.
  • Using your existing knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify relevant issues within medical records, instructing medical experts, and drawing key issues to their attention.
  • Critical analysis of sources of liability evidence and identifying any gaps.
  • Drafting concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling, including advice on reserves, indemnity, liability, quantum, and causation issues, and claims resolution for strategy discussion with the Lead Lawyer as appropriate.
  • Liaising with parties involved in claims, including the insured, insurer, witnesses, etc.
  • Instructing counsel and attending conferences, JSMs, mediations, both remotely and in person.
  • Attend court in person or by telephone, attend trials, settlement conferences, etc., as required.
  • Delivery of agreed performance targets and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX, or proven relevant legal experience.
  • Experience of handling cases up to £100K in your own name.
  • Experience of indemnity and RTA liability and complex medical issues and causation is essential.
  • Experience working in a similar role assisting on large loss and/or catastrophic injury claims.
