Main Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching

To maintain a deep understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions, and best practices. This includes staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field.

To communicate effectively with parents/carers, other professionals, and students, participating in student-focused meetings as required.

To recognise, value, and raise the achievement of students. This involves:

Using a range of assessment techniques to inform teaching and support

Implementing and developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) effectively, ensuring specific targets and approaches are used

Participating in assessment procedures applying to externally validated qualifications and national curriculum assessment, including special arrangements for students with SEN

Keeping accurate and understandable records, preparing and writing assessment reports for reviews

To use effective teaching strategies and lesson structures to deliver the curriculum through Quality First teaching and:

Being familiar with curriculum requirements and making full use of assessment information to develop, adapt, and evaluate teaching strategies to give maximum benefit to students with SEN
