About the Role

CareTech Group is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team at Cambian New Elizabethan School.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining an up-to-date understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) principles, definitions, and basic practice.

This includes an awareness of the roles and responsibilities of those who contribute to SEN programmes.

The teacher will communicate and consult with parents/carers and other appropriate people, participating in student-focused meetings as required.

The teacher will recognise, value, and raise the achievement of students by effectively using more specialised assessment techniques to help plan and deliver teaching and support.

They will implement and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) effectively, ensuring that specific targets and approaches prescribed are used.

The teacher will be familiar with and participate in assessment procedures applying to any externally validated qualifications and national curriculum assessment, including special arrangements for students with SEN.

They will keep up-to-date records, preparing and writing accurate and understandable assessment reports for reviews.

Key Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a commitment to providing high-quality education and care.

They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher with experience of working with students with SEN, and will have a strong understanding of SEN principles and practices.
