Site Construction Manager

BAM Nuttall is an industry leader in delivering sustainable infrastructure projects, and we are seeking a skilled Site Engineer to join our team. Located in Plymouth, this project involves the redevelopment of a Royal Navy site, requiring an experienced professional to manage technical compliance with the design specification.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in preparing 'as-built drawings' to ensure accurate documentation of project progress.
- Establish effective systems for recording work completed, updating the Project Quality Plan accordingly.
- Manage systems to track work progress against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity.
- Record and test workmanship and materials, including drainage, concrete, piling, and brickwork.
- Provide engineering support to resolve technical problems and answer queries.
- Set out works within allowable tolerances and check setting out points and benchmarks.
- Regularly deliver calibrated measuring equipment to site with calibration certificates.
- Complete Daily Diaries and ensure workforce understanding of setting out information.
- Prepare sketches for distribution on site, ensuring clear communication channels.
- Aware of Kier Safety, Health, and Environmental Management System implementation.
- Provide and maintain setting out and dimensional control for accurate construction.
- Record instructions and maintain drawing registers.
- Degree qualification in civil engineering or equivalent is desirable – one or more of: BSc, BA, BEng, Meng, Eng, Tech, MICE, TIStructE, LCIBSE, LCIBSEEng Tech, Completion of Higher Apprenticeship.
- May be working towards Chartership/Incorporation with IStructE, ICE, or other appropriate professional body.
- Familiar in Leica Survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Optical & digital levels) for Setting Out & Survey.
- Experience in similar roles.
- Awareness of commercial processes.
- Familiar with Quality Management System and writing RAMS.
- Proven people and project management skills.
- Team leader with organisational skills.
