Orthopaedic Theatre Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. Our orthopaedic surgery encompasses a range of specialties, including paediatrics, arthroplasty, and revision surgery, soft tissue knee, upper limb surgery, and spinal surgery.

The successful candidate will have substantial clinical experience in theatre, preferably in the Trauma and Orthopaedic specialty, and possess excellent communication skills. They will also have a vast knowledge base and the ability to apply evidence-based practice.

Main Duties
  • Acknowledge patients' preferences, rights, and choices during surgery.
  • Maintain health, safety, and infection control in clinical work areas, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Administer prescribed drugs to patients and monitor their effects, in line with Trust policies.
Education and Coaching
  1. Continuously develop knowledge by evaluating and reflecting on practice.
  2. Ensure effective supervision and assessment of students within theatre.
  3. Promote clinical supervision activity.
  4. Conduct risk assessments in line with Trust policy.
  5. Contribute to the development of clinical policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of care within the theatre department.

Personal
  1. Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills.
  2. Ensure all mandatory training required to undertake the role is up to date.
