Candour Talent Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Multiskilled Engineer to join our client's team in Merthyr Tydfil. This is a unique opportunity to work in a well-established manufacturing company and contribute to its continued success and growth.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for responding to and resolving equipment breakdowns, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and improving equipment performance. They will also be involved in troubleshooting process, material, or equipment problems, and recommending solutions to the Engineering Manager or Section Manager.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate to the planned preventative maintenance within the department, ensuring that all machinery and ancillary services are covered, and report back any failing in this plan to the Engineering Manager or Section Manager.
- Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize downtime and recommend solutions to the Engineering Manager or Section Manager.
- Develop, assemble, procure, or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.
- Assist the Engineering Manager or Section Manager with revisions and improvements to manufacturing methods and procedures, including writing change orders and deviations.
- Assist with hands-on training of setter operators and process operators on new products, equipment, and process revisions.
- Schedule, complete, and document routine maintenance on applicable manufacturing and test equipment.
- Read schematics, assembly drawings, data sheets, and process sheets to perform testing, build fixtures, checkout, and troubleshoot equipment.
- Assist in failure analysis, troubleshooting, rework/repair of non-conforming manufactured product to determine root cause.
- Perform tests, gather data, and write results/reports with assistance from Engineering Manager, utilizing various types of electro-mechanical equipment.
- Comply with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Nonin Quality System.
- Work with contractors to prepare project specifications. Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to the Engineering Manager or Section manager.
- Design, develop, test, and manufacture electrical and electronic equipment such as PLC control, temperature monitoring devices.
- Design, develop, test, and manufacture electronic and computer-controlled mechanical systems.
The ideal candidate will have a HNC or Apprentice training with 50/50 in mechanical and electrical, and ideally have worked with and understand wrapping machines/products. They will be competent in PLC programming (basic understanding level accepted), proven track record in Machining/turning (bearings, shafts, pumps, gearboxes) Pneumatics, Electrical fault finding, and 3-phase equipment experience. They will also be good at problem-solving and working as part of a team, and flexible to meet the ever-changing demands of the business.
