The Role

You will contribute to providing exceptional care and education to children aged 2-5 years, ensuring their developmental needs are met. Working collaboratively with parents/carers, you will create a safe and nurturing environment within the nursery team.

We are proud of our strong Children's Centre links and shared core values, working closely with families and agencies like Family Support Workers, Social Workers, and Health Visitors to improve outcomes for our children.

A valid driving licence and own transport or alternative suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

  1. You will use your knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development to support learning and safety while keeping them safe.
About You

We seek an inspirational Early Years practitioner who understands and values outstanding learning and care in a fun, safe environment. You should be reliable, friendly, passionate, reflective, and committed to delivering a child-centred approach to Early Years, aligning with Ashcombe's ethos.

It is essential that you actively promote and support the safeguarding of children, adhering to policies and procedures.

Our ideal candidate promotes our Nursery's positive values, attitudes (including British Values), and child behaviour, supports children through co-regulation, encourages problem-solving, and builds warm relationships with children and their families, working as part of a team.

Essential Criteria:
  1. A competent level of understanding in English.
  2. Prepared to work towards NVQ level 2 or 3 in Early Years and Care and Education.
  3. Some experience of direct working with children in a Care, Early Years Education, and/or Play setting.
  4. Understanding of Child development and the needs of young children in a childcare setting.
  5. Awareness of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  6. An understanding of children with SEND.
  7. Awareness of Safeguarding/Child Protection policies and procedures.
  8. Awareness of OFSTED requirements.
  9. Occasional working in the evenings and weekends.
  10. Food & Hygiene Certificate.
  11. Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  12. Ability to provide a flexible and calm response to children and families.
What We Offer

A competitive salary of approximately £19,500 - £22,000 per year, depending on experience, along with benefits such as flexible working arrangements, opportunities for professional development, and a dedicated Wellbeing Team.
