About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Virology Specialist to join our team at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in providing expert clinical care to patients with infection-related problems.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing patients with complex infection problems, including those related to immunocompromised patients. You will also be involved in the development and implementation of diagnostic virology and microbiology assays, including molecular assays. Additionally, you will contribute to the training and education of junior staff and participate in clinical audit and infection control activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage patients with complex infection problems, including those related to immunocompromised patients
  • Develop and implement diagnostic virology and microbiology assays, including molecular assays
  • Contribute to the training and education of junior staff
  • Participate in clinical audit and infection control activities
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • FRCPath or equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Virology or Infectious Diseases and Virology
  • Experience in managing patients with complex infection problems
  • Experience in developing and implementing diagnostic virology and microbiology assays
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
