About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dermatology Nurse Specialist to join our team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our dermatology department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the efficient running of our services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and delivering care needs within our nurse-led services, teaching and supporting patients and junior staff, and assisting with the efficient running of the service. You will also be required to follow-up patients in outpatients' clinics and refer into the community as necessary.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assess and deliver care needs within nurse-led services
  • Teach and support patients and junior staff
  • Assist with the efficient running of the service
  • Follow-up patients in outpatients' clinics and refer into the community as necessary
  • Undertake skilled and specialist support work with patients following agreed guidelines
  • Be responsible for own caseload and make clinical judgments as necessary
  • Supervise and support junior nurses and Health Care Assistants
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the grade
Person Specification
  • NMC Registration
  • 5 years post-registration experience
  • ENB998 or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Study to Degree Level
  • Evidence of continued personal and professional development
  • Non-Medical prescribing or willingness to work towards
  • Experience in dermatology at Band 6 in an acute hospital setting
  • Demonstrable achievement in improving patient care and being forward-thinking and innovative
  • Surgical skills to conduct small minor dermatological procedures and biopsies
  • Master's Degree or working towards
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Research and audit experience
  • Advanced surgical skills including grafts and flaps neck and above
Contract and Working Pattern

This is a permanent part-time position with a salary of £46,148 to £52,809 per annum, plus a 5% High Cost Area Supplement.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
