As a Consultant Medical Microbiologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Kings Lynn NHS Foundation Trust (QEH), you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality clinical microbiology services to patients across Norfolk.

Job Overview

This is a unique opportunity to work in a large and busy department that continues to expand its services to meet the increasing needs of the modern NHS. As part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance (EPA), you will have access to a wide range of resources and expertise to support your work.

The successful candidate will be employed by the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUHFT), but will spend most of their time at QEH working alongside other consultants to provide a comprehensive microbiology service for that Trust.

The salary for this position is around £85,000 per annum, with additional benefits including a relocation package up to £8,000 and 2 days relocation leave.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  1. Provide a comprehensive microbiology service for all users of the laboratory, including provision of cross-cover for infection prevention and control.
  2. Deliver a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties in the QEHKL and to GPs and other healthcare professionals in Primary Care.
  3. Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities of the QEHKL.
  4. Participate in the Royal College of Pathologists continuing medical education programme.
