We are seeking an Academic Equipment Specialist to join our team at Academics in Sheffield. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, and offers the potential to transition into a permanent position.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will provide dedicated technical support to our physics department, preparing and maintaining resources to support physics lessons, including practical work up to A Level.

  1. Preparing, setting up, and maintaining equipment and materials for physics practicals, including A Level experiments.
  2. Supporting teachers and students during physics lessons, ensuring practical activities are engaging and effective.
  3. Managing stock levels and ordering specialised equipment and materials for the physics department.
  4. Assisting with cross-departmental tasks when necessary, providing additional support to other science subjects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience working in a laboratory or educational environment, with a specialisation in physics.
  • Knowledge of physics practicals, including A Level, and the ability to support complex experiments.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a commitment to high standards in the education and training sector.

This role comes with a competitive salary of around £38,000-£45,500 per annum based on 37 hours a week.
