Job Description

Oxford Instruments plc is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and measure current manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and agree targets with team leaders.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through training and coaching of cross-functional teams on process improvement techniques.
  • Measure key business metrics, such as product yield and wRMA rate, and define and implement projects to improve these metrics.
  • Champion shop floor Lean/Six Sigma programs and initiatives, establishing and implementing Six Sigma standards throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Design shop floor layouts to support new product introduction and process re-engineering of existing products.
  • Determine special purpose and standard tooling requirements to support the manufacture of all products.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing shop floor documentation for new and existing products.
  • Support vendor cost, quality, and delivery performance in the supply of sub-assembly products and services.
  • Ensure New Product Introductions (NPI) and Engineering Change are implemented effectively.
  • Support the manufacturing team leaders and facilities team in delivering a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Become a process expert for critical business processes and technologies, sharing knowledge and experience with colleagues and providing training and guidance.
Requirements:
  • Degree/HND in Manufacturing and/or Engineering or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean Manufacturing tools and techniques, with a proven track record of delivering positive cost, quality, and performance results.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 Quality Management System.
  • Knowledge of Project Management techniques and experience leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Working knowledge of design processes (DFx), new product introduction, and product lifecycle management.
  • Computer literate with experience of using ERP/MRP systems, such as production routings and BOM structures.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Assemblies.
