About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to join our Sustainability Group. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and driven professional to contribute to the field of sustainability and grow their career.

The role is based in our Bournemouth or Reading offices and will be part of a broader Sustainability Group with a presence across multiple locations. Our team is an industry leader in sustainability design, construction, and building operation, with a focus on achieving high standards of environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and deliver small-scale projects.
  • Support senior team members on larger projects and lead specific workstreams.
  • Lead workshops with clients and design teams, communicating effectively and clearly.
  • Delegate, manage, and review the work of others.
  • Support the training and development of junior team members.
  • Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, including embodied carbon, circular economy opportunities, building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, and overheating assessments.
  • Lead the development of sustainability and energy strategies.
  • Deliver environmental assessments (such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.) from early design stages through to completion.
  • Drive efforts towards achieving net zero whole-life carbon in projects.
  • Participate in research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.
  • Engage with industry through research, development studies, and authoring guidance.

Requirements
  • You will possess detailed knowledge, competence, and qualifications in several of the following fields: energy strategies, building regulations, NABERS UK modelling, in-use energy modelling, dynamic modelling, BREEAM and HQM assessments, bespoke sustainability charters, health and wellbeing strategies, planning documents, net zero carbon strategies, circular economy strategies.
  • You have 4-8 years of experience in sustainability consultancy.
  • You have a degree in a relevant field and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
  • You are confident in leading sustainability workshops with design teams.
  • You enjoy being part of a dynamic team in a progressive and well-respected firm.
  • You have strong communication skills and thrive in a team environment.
