Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Healthcare Scientist Assistant to join our team in the Aberdeen Genetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratory. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will provide technical support for our genetic services, undertaking a range of laboratory duties, including solution preparation, culturing, and DNA/RNA extraction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine technical support for genetic services, including preparation of solutions and media, culturing, and harvesting blood and tissue samples.
  • Undertake a range of technical laboratory duties, including DNA/RNA extraction and analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and quality control processes.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications in a biological science or laboratory skills in Life Science discipline.
  • Previous practical laboratory experience, preferably in a healthcare or clinical laboratory setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
