About the Role:

A Mental Health Assistant is required to provide support to students with complex needs, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs in a school setting.

The successful candidate will work alongside the support staff and on-site professionals to provide students with 1-1 support and attention throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing students with 1-1 support and attention
  • Encouraging students to maintain focus and work towards achieving independence and life skills
  • Working with a small group of students alongside a specialist SEN Teacher and a second Mental Health Assistant

Requirements:

  • Emotional intelligence and a genuine interest in seeing pupils succeed
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Understanding of additional needs and how to support children facing challenges while in education

This is an excellent opportunity for criminology or psychology graduates looking for an open door into the industry and have an interest in how support and prevention can improve young people's development and keep them on a positive path in society.
