We're seeking an experienced Lead Developer to drive innovation in our E-Commerce operations. As part of our rapidly expanding startup, you will be responsible for leading our development team and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Our company has achieved remarkable success, reaching profitability in Q4 last year with over £150 million in annual turnover. We're committed to conquering the E-Commerce market by taking a significant share from top players. With a strong financial foundation and continued investment, we're poised for international expansion.

We have established agile sprint teams in our development department, each comprising a PHP team lead, senior backend engineers, frontend engineers, QA specialists, and product managers. We're expanding our operations to over 100 countries in the next few years, leveraging technology as the backbone. This presents an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned PHP team lead to take charge of one of our engineering teams, focusing on 80% development and 20% technical leadership tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee your team's performance to ensure timely delivery of objectives
  • Provide technical guidance and make key decisions on code architecture and structure
  • Foster a culture of good development practices within your team (TDD, Unit Testing, SOLID)
  • Monitor and report team productivity to the head of engineering
  • Lead a sprint team of 5 individuals, including developers, product managers, and QA specialists
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • At least 7 years of PHP software engineering experience with expertise in writing high-quality code
  • Proven track record of technical leadership or project management, ensuring timely delivery and meeting deadlines
  • Mentoring and managing junior developers, as well as conducting code reviews
  • Experience in fast-paced growth-oriented businesses
  • Balance between coding standards and project deadlines
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Results-driven attitude and ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Passion for growing a business, not just working a standard 9-to-5 job

Remuneration: Competitive salary up to £75,000 per annum, plus valuable share options
