Health and Safety Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Engineer to join our team at Sizewell B Power Station on a permanent basis.
About the RoleThis is a key position within our project and engineering portfolio, which spans across our UK network at all sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced professionals and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.
Sizewell B has been generating zero-carbon electricity since 1995, producing 250 TWh of electricity, equivalent to powering every home in Suffolk for 192 years or taking 42 million cars off UK roads for a year. You will be part of a large client-led team at Sizewell B Power Station and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager, and/or Construction Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Provide positive leadership on HSE matters within the Portfolio Project Teams and promote the adoption of best practice, fostering an enthusiastic HSE culture that engages all employees in continuous improvement in HSE performance.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of the HSE Management system and progress against HSE Performance Standards, making recommendations for improvement as appropriate.
- Accountable to the client PPM or equivalent Group Head, with functional responsibilities to the client HSE Lead.
- Business travel to UK sites/stations may be required.
- Report to the Jacobs Operations Manager, but be accountable for project delivery directly to the client.
Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture. Good communication and organisational skills are essential, with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks while being results-focused and team-centred.
Requirements- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, Construction Certificate, or NVQ Level 3.
- Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) desirable.
- IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management.
- Operational knowledge of current HSE legislation associated with project work.
- Good communication skills and the ability to develop networks and working relationships with other groups involved in project delivery.
- Suitable relevant experience working as a HSE Professional in a project context, including experience working within a highly regulated operational environment and managing contractors, as well as experience in accident investigation and reporting.
