Position: Purchase Specialist for Direct Commodities
Reports to: EU Direct Purchasing Manager
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled purchasing professional to join our team at AESC, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. In this role, you will be working with different direct modules, packs, recycle material, and electrical & electronic components.
The ideal candidate will be based at one of our legal entities and will be responsible for:
- Market Intelligence and Strategy Development: Gain market intelligence and become an expert in all the commodities we have, working with global purchase and design teams to develop an optimal direct strategy plan for the EU.
- Supply Chain Management: Have technical understanding of supply roadmap identifying key commodities and suppliers within the EU region considering key supply risk factors.
- Commercial Contracting: Support EU Direct Purchasing Manager on commercial contracting specifically focused on localisation with EU suppliers for new and existing sourcing projects.
- Cost Reduction and Supply Chain Optimization: Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible within end-end supply chain for current BOM and new BOM activities.
- Operational Efficiency and Continuous Improvement: Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement.
- Supplier Performance Evaluation: Assess and evaluate suppliers to undertake performance reviews driving improvement activities.
- Supply Logistics and Project Support: Support project purchasing and supply chain teams across the EU to ensure AESC maximise supply logistics improvements and avoid production delays.
- Technical Skills and Travel: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI, SAP. Travel will be required within the EU and sometimes Asia. Full driving licence.
- Language and Communication Skills: Fluent in English (C1 level) and excellent communication skills (English) are essential to build relationships with global functions (purchase, design, SQD) and suppliers in Asia.
- Analytical and Prioritization Skills: Effective analytical skills to evaluate commodity market trends and report to the EU leadership. Ability to work to tight deadlines and have a good sense of priorities.
- Industrial Awareness and Supply Market Investigation: Strong industrial awareness by investigating new supply markets to assess existing and new supplier capabilities to further strength cost reductions and supply rationalization.
