Packaging Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Beverages Packaging Technologist to join our team at Questech Recruitment Ltd.
About the Role:The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and introducing new ingredients, packaging, and processes within the factory, ensuring compliance with company and external standards and policies.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead development projects from concept to industrialization within multi-disciplined project teams, focusing on line performance, cost efficiency, on-time delivery, and product quality.
- Contribute to significant investment projects in the factory, providing detailed input to key project stages within the gate approval process.
- Provide packaging input within the AGs, proposing and evaluating the best packaging alternatives for new products and improvements to existing products.
- Organize and document production trials, including machinability, shelf-life, storage handling, laboratory, and transport tests for validation of new packaging and changes in specifications.
- Contribute to the optimisation and improvement of current products and processes within the factory, using local business and supply situation.
- Develop and maintain the competencies required for packaging knowledge within the area of expertise and as per the job position.
- Act as the link between Market Packaging Manager, R&D, and Factory Operations, maintaining contact with R&D and other AGs within the packaging category.
- Provide technical assistance to the factory, ensuring on-line packaging performance and providing comprehensive packaging technical support for technical assistance requests.
- Ensure knowledge transfer to the factory related to packaging and substrates within the area of expertise.
- Prior experience in a similar role, preferably with a factory background.
- PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging Technology or a similar Packaging related qualification.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing, QA, and supply chain quality systems, including the company Food Safety and Quality Management system.
- Detailed understanding of packaging Safety, Quality, and Compliance requirements.
- Understanding of manufacturing performance indicators.
- Understanding of related functions and their roles.
- Packaging materials and process awareness, including knowledge of materials, production processes, conversion, and suppliers.
- Flexible and agile in approach.
- Proactive training and coaching capability to enable knowledge transfer to peers and operators.
- Keeping abreast of knowledge on technical advancement and developments within the area of expertise.
- Good networking abilities and able to work cross-functionally and under pressure.
- Committed to the manufacture of safe and compliant products.
