About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Preparation Technician to join our team at Rubber Duck Cars in Guildford. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our vehicles are thoroughly prepared for sale, meeting the highest standards of quality and safety.

Main Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks on our vehicles, utilizing your technical knowledge and expertise to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standard.
  • Diagnostic and Troubleshooting: Utilize modern diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults, working efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to our processes and procedures, ensuring that we are always working in the most efficient and effective way possible.
  • Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Work on electrical and mechanical systems, inspecting components for wear and tear, and repairing or replacing parts as necessary.
  • Quality Control: Check vehicle subsystems to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standard, and that our vehicles meet the required quality and safety standards.
  • Customer Liaison: Liaise with customers as necessary, providing excellent communication and customer service skills to ensure that their needs are met.
  • Team Support: Support other technicians in the workshop, working collaboratively to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Requirements
  • Technical Knowledge: The knowledge to use modern diagnostic equipment and the capability of working to the highest quality standards.
  • Communication Skills: Great team player and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of house-keeping, ensuring that the workshop is clean and organized at all times.
  • Efficiency Targets: Prior experience in working to efficiency targets, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Driving License: A full UK driving license is essential for this role.
  • Automotive Experience: Experience within a main automotive dealer is preferable, but not essential. VOSA-approved MOT tester an advantage but not essential.
  • Qualifications: Must hold Level 2 / Level 3 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair NVQ or equivalent.
