Abercorn Sinclair is seeking a highly skilled Senior/Project Scientist to join our team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for leading the development, optimization, and validation of analytical techniques for our products and processes.

You will work closely with our fermentation and process development teams to develop assays to characterize novel products and feedstocks. Your expertise in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnology will be essential in driving improvements in our analytical capabilities and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize robust analytical methodologies for the characterization of biological products and feedstocks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to scope, design, and deliver technical projects with defined success criteria.
  • Drive improvements in our analytical capabilities by identifying and implementing new techniques and technologies.
  • Complete COSHH and risk assessments to ensure safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Present and formally report experimental conclusions and supporting data for internal peer review.
  • Disseminate protocols and train colleagues to carry out novel assays.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver company objectives.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments.
  • Assist the Quality team with routine product testing.
  • Contribute to stability studies to assess product shelf life.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in analytical chemistry and biochemistry.
  • Working knowledge of ELISA and other biochemical assays.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Leadership skills within and across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Use of Design of Experiments for process optimization.
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience with DataApex Clarity chromatography software.
  • Experience actively challenging and influencing projects and teams.
  • Experience of line management, training, and supervision of technical staff.
