About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commercial & Programmes Controller to join our team at Smiths Detection. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for managing the sales forecasting and programme accounting processes for the NW Europe region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the sales forecasting process, including the development of 5-year strategic plans, annual budgets, and monthly rolling forecasts.
  • Oversee the maintenance of programme accounting records, including deferred revenue, work-in-progress, and unbilled amounts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS15.
  • Provide variance explanations and analysis to support commercial decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the UK Financial Controller to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales and operations teams.
  • Manage a team of professionals to deliver commercial and programme accounting services.
Requirements
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of IFRS standards, particularly IFRS15, and experience with programme accounting.
  • Commercially astute and experienced in sales forecasting and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and management information systems (Oracle EPBCS).
  • Detailed knowledge of SAP programme accounting, including WBS structures, ZPLANS, and reporting.
