We are seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join our team at the Birmingham location. As an Ocean Import Operator, you will be responsible for developing and building relationships with customers to ensure a high level of service is provided. You will also be responsible for ensuring freight is moved on time with all necessary documentation, arranging haulage with shipping lines, and ensuring all freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and build relationships with customers to ensure a high level of service is provided
  • Ensure freight is moved on time with all necessary documentation
  • Arrange haulage with shipping lines
  • Ensure all freight is invoiced and checked prior to dispatch
  • Ensure all relevant documents are on hand as required
  • Resolve and action requests and queries quickly and efficiently
  • Communicate with overseas agents, customers, and suppliers in a clear and precise manner
Requirements
  • Experience of ocean freight forwarding
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet fixed deadlines
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent usage of computer/operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise - preferable)
  • Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated
