About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking an exceptional Behaviour Mentor to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a dedicated SEN school in Lichfield.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in guiding students to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours, enhancing their social skills, and achieving personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support to students, using positive reinforcement and therapeutic techniques to encourage self-regulation and appropriate responses.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and source of support for their personal and social development.
  • Facilitate small group sessions focused on developing interpersonal skills, empathy, and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with staff to implement individualized strategies and share insights on student progress.
  • Promote a safe environment, contributing to maintaining a nurturing school atmosphere where all students feel respected and valued.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should have experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs. You should possess patience, empathy, and resilience, along with a genuine commitment to the well-being and development of every student.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or SEMH setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective behaviour management strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • A Child DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

Estimated Salary: £425-£450 per week
