Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Community Occupational Therapy Team. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality occupational therapy services to inpatients with complex medical and rehabilitation needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' occupational performance and needs, including physical, cognitive, and emotional aspects.
  2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and rehabilitation goals tailored to each patient's needs, preferences, and discharge plans.
  3. Use a variety of evidence-based interventions and therapeutic activities to enhance patients' ability to perform daily living activities, both in hospital and for potential discharge.
  4. Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health staff to coordinate patient care and ensure the best possible outcomes for each patient.
  5. Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers regarding rehabilitation techniques, home adaptations, and community resources to support ongoing recovery.
  6. Maintain clear, accurate, and comprehensive records of patient assessments, treatment sessions, progress, and outcomes in line with regulatory and professional standards.
  7. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives, including service evaluation, audits, and research projects.
  8. Engage in continuous professional development and training to keep current with best practices and changes within the field of occupational therapy.

Requirements:
A degree or master's degree in Occupational Therapy from a UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)-approved institution. Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and, if applicable, membership with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Previous experience in an acute hospital setting is advantageous; however, newly qualified OTs are also encouraged to apply. Ability to perform manual handling tasks and assist patients with mobility and daily activities in accordance with organisational policies.
