**Job Title:** Press and Publications Specialist

Brixton Blog - Big Smoke is seeking a highly skilled Press and Publications Specialist to join its External Affairs team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing media relations strategies, writing and editing content for online and offline outputs, and assisting with events organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting press releases, editing and drafting articles and blogs, responding to journalists' inquiries, and making contact with journalists.
  • Drafting website copy, uploading website content, distributing press releases, maintaining a database of journalists, and tracking media coverage.
  • Editing and proofreading reports and other publications, as well as performing production tasks as needed.
  • Assisting with event organisation, managing registration desks, and capturing photos and video at public events.
  • Providing general administrative support as required.

**Requirements:**

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to write for various audiences and formats based on complex, technical content.
  • Ability to edit and proofread documents, collaborate with authors, and adhere to house style.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and assist with events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMS, with experience in social media and software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or Elements highly desirable.
  • A strong interest in UK public policy and politics, as well as a commitment to Brixton Blog - Big Smoke's values.
  • An interest in working in an external affairs environment.
  • Previous experience in editing/publication roles.
  • Skill in creating media (photos, video, audio) and publishing it in various outputs.

**Location:** The intern will be based in London for 6 months, starting from June. Working hours can be discussed at interview stage.

The estimated salary for this role is £12,000-£17,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
