About the Role

Glasgow Life is seeking a highly skilled Special Projects Officer (Exhibitions) to join our Museums team on a part-time, 28 hours per week, fixed-term contract for up to 3 years. As a key liaison for design development, you will collaborate with the project team to ensure the museum design development and delivery reflect community engagement activity.

You will work closely with in-house teams, external designers, and communities to drive the design process and promote an accessible and inclusive design that meets project objectives. As an audience advocate, you will ensure that the museum design processes and final outputs reflect the needs of diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the key liaison for design development and project management
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure design development and delivery reflect community engagement activity
  • Work with in-house teams, external designers, and communities to drive the design process
  • Support internal and external design teams to promote an accessible and inclusive design
  • Ensure that museum design processes and final outputs reflect the needs of diverse audiences
Requirements
  • Experience working on design and build projects that include community engagement
  • Project management experience, including contributing to the management of external contractors
  • Ability to work within a multi-discipline project team ensuring project priorities are driving decisions
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with experience delivering to diverse audiences
  • Ability to instruct designers, contractors, and other trades during the build phase of a project
