Job Title: Senior Engineer - Metrology (Electrical Calibration)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems, specializing in electrical calibration and metrology. As a key member of our Calibration department, you will play a crucial role in supporting 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment to state-of-the-art digital systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform high-end calibrations and repairs on a wide variety of electrical test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE).
  2. Deliver specific, target-driven on-the-job training and experiential learning to ICS Electrical team members and apprentices/graduates.
  3. Deputize for the ICS Electrical team leader, including people/resource management, workflow management, and workload signoff.
  4. Write and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets.
  5. Participate in quality audits, achieving UKAS signatory status.
  6. Communicate professionally with technical stakeholders on instrumentation/calibration topics, including consultation on new measurement technologies.
Requirements:
  1. Experience working in a precision electrical calibration/metrology laboratory environment.
  2. Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001).
  3. Relevant academic qualification (STEM degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
Desirable:
  1. Existing UKAS signatory status for Electrical Calibration.
  2. Experience in creating measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level.
  3. Experience in using automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview).
  4. Experience in Mechanical, Dimensional, Temperature, and other engineering calibrations.

The Calibration department is a dynamic team of around 8+ members, working alongside various other teams within the overall Calibration department, consisting of 50+ team members.
