About the Role

iO Associates is seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform Architect to join our team in the Defence & National Security sectors. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for advising and assuring the Platform design is conformant with vendor best practice, security enforcement, and Defence architectural patterns and guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the point of contact for platform architecture and threat mitigation
  • Support design vision creation, design decisions, and design review
  • Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure end-to-end designs are delivered across the wider Defence landscape
  • Support the review of High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) for coherence and quality
  • Align standards, frameworks, and security with business and technology strategies and policies
  • Support the design of platform architecture elements
Requirements
  • Experience with architecture and development of secure Hardware & Software solutions
  • Platform engineering expertise, ideally with a strong background in Platform Engineering
  • Ability to write technical requirements and produce detailed solution architectures
  • Experience in designing and implementing secure platform solutions
  • Knowledge of the UK Defence sector
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • Voice & Video Conferencing (Skype for Business, SIP with TLD federation)

  • Identity Access Management (IAM)
  • UK Defence deployed network architectures
  • Database Services (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL)
  • Replication & Backup technologies
  • Storage technologies
What We Offer

This is a 6-month initial period with long-term extensions likely. The role will be on a hybrid basis, requiring you to be on-site 1-2 days per month, and will be paying up to £650 / day Inside IR35.
