Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Job Summary:

The Pirbright Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team working on the REPRODIVAC project. The successful candidate will play a key role in achieving the project's objectives, which include developing next-generation vaccines and diagnostics to prevent and control infectious reproductive diseases of livestock.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Generation and functional characterization of a panel of recombinant PRRSV-neutralizing porcine monoclonal antibodies.
  • Working as part of a research consortium to produce and provide materials for epitope mapping studies.
  • Supporting the evaluation of novel PRRSV vaccine candidates for immunogenicity and efficacy.
  • Isolating C.burnetii-specific mAbs from immune sheep and goats.
  • Communicating progress and data to the REPRODIVAC consortium.

Requirements:

  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant branch of biosciences.
  • Excellent record of research productivity, relative to experience.
  • Experience of recombinant protein expression and purification.
  • Molecular biology experience/skills.
  • Experience in immunology including flow cytometry, analysis of antibody responses, and functional assays.
