Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom Bristol City Council Full time
Job Description

Full Time, Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Bristol's award-winning City Office team in coordinating the One City Partnership.

With multiple forces shaping Bristol's path, including national government policy, migration, trade, markets, conflict, and climate change, the city faces specific challenges such as an ageing population, social inequality, and unsustainable resource consumption. The One City Approach is Bristol's response to these challenges.

We are seeking a dynamic and delivery-focused individual to lead the City Office, a small team hosted by the council and co-funded by partners. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong track record of service or team management, outcome-focused delivery, and strategic planning, with excellent communications and negotiation skills.

As the lead officer for the One City Approach, the post-holder will be responsible for the City Office service, managing senior internal and external stakeholder relationships, raising funding, and negotiating in-kind contributions. They will also develop strategy, including producing the One City Plan, and oversee City Office support and delivery of key projects and priorities within the plan.

The post-holder will work closely with the council's most senior political leaders and officers, as well as counterparts at major anchor institutions in the city, to set strategic direction for One City and ensure its implementation. This will involve convening and catalysing other partners and resources to achieve the desired outcomes.

Why Bristol City Council?

Bristol City Council offers a fast-paced and supportive work environment, giving employees the chance to use their skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation. We offer hybrid working arrangements, allowing teams to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice. In this role, it is expected that the post-holder will be physically present in City Hall or other partner offices at least three days per week.

As a member of our team, you'll receive an excellent rewards package, including membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. You'll also have the opportunity to make a positive impact on Bristol and contribute to its future.
