Job Title: Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Carbon60. As a key member of our Public Sector client's team in Central Bristol, you will be responsible for providing professional surveying services and project management, particularly those involving structural, dimensional and topographical surveys and design solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert surveying services and project management, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
  2. Plan, monitor and control all aspects of the programme, seeking best practice, ideas and innovation and ensuring they are applied to the project.
  3. Achieve project objectives within defined schedules, costs and performance parameters.
  4. Take ownership and accountability for all aspects of the project, programme or service from end-to-end.

Requirements:

  1. A Degree in Structural Engineering, diploma or HNC equivalent, or equivalent professional qualification in a construction field.
  2. Corporate membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers or substantial post-qualification experience demonstrating significant relevant knowledge of complex structures.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrable project management skills.
  4. Practical experience in a role as 'technical expert' in a building, surveying/structural surveying, or similar construction-related environment providing design solutions.
  5. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety issues.
  6. Experience of leading and supporting staff in a service delivery environment, along with a project management qualification.
  7. Expert knowledge of the different types of construction of residential buildings, including multi-storey blocks, their potential defects, and the investigation and implementation of solutions.
  8. Demonstrable ability to co-ordinate professional staff and take ownership and accountability for all aspects of a service/project/programme from end-to-end.
  9. Demonstrate evidence of applying innovative and analytical approaches to solving complex and challenging problems.
  10. Ability to liaise and cooperate with other teams and contractors to ensure service outcomes are achieved.
  11. Demonstrate ability to supervise projects or programmes to achieve outcomes, including meeting financial and budgetary targets and ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  12. Ability to provide written reports, including embedded photographs, and to create presentation material using IT tools and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  13. A willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
  14. Excellent communication skills, using oral, written, and electronic media.
  15. Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues and awareness of the equalities issues relevant to delivering the service.
  16. Must hold a valid, full Driver's license.
