About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at NHS Dorset, working closely with our system partners to ensure medicines are aligned with the health needs of our population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clinicians to incorporate medicines into clinical pathways in the most safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Manage the Dorset Formulary, ensuring it remains a credible and trusted document with appropriate peer review.
  • Provide technical leadership on medicines optimisation, working with prescribers to ensure medicines are used effectively across all sectors.
  • Ensure the safe and effective use of medicines, with a focus on high-cost drugs and system-wide approaches to medicines commissioning.
  • Communicate medicines optimisation to system partners, building and maintaining working relationships across the system.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered with the GPHC as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Post-registration/graduate diploma level or equivalent in a relevant subject, or equivalent level of knowledge or experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a customer-focused environment.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and contracting processes in primary care.
  • Previous line management experience of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
