Job Title: Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join our Legal Services team at Harborough District Council. As a key member of our team, you will provide expert legal advice on contracts and procurement matters, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and supporting the Council's goal of continuous improvement in service quality, cost efficiency, and customer responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the delivery of legal services in contracts and procurement matters.
  • Handle a caseload of complex and sensitive legal issues.
  • Provide training and support to other officers in legal procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all Council policies and statutory requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective contract management strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Several years post-qualification experience in contracts and procurement law, including preparing contract documentation, advising on compliance and governance requirements, and negotiating agreements.
  • Proven experience in the public sector or in private practice.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
