Job Title: Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer

Harborough District Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Council's activities are conducted lawfully and transparently.

About the Role

The successful candidate will support the Head of Legal Services in delivering high-quality legal advice, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. You will be the Council's lead adviser on a broad range of contract and procurement matters, including drafting and advising on reports for Cabinet, Council Committees, and other meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the delivery of legal services in contracts and procurement matters.
  • Handle a caseload of complex and sensitive legal issues.
  • Provide training and support to other officers in legal procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all Council policies and statutory requirements.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have several years of post-qualification experience in contracts and procurement law, including preparing contract documentation, advising on compliance and governance requirements, and negotiating agreements. Proven experience in the public sector or in private practice is also essential.
