Job Title: Senior Marine Environmental Scientist

This is a key opportunity to work with our global team that sources and interprets Geo-data for clients worldwide. As a Senior Marine Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for leading our reporting team based in the UK.

We are looking for an experienced professional to lead our reporting team based in Portchester or Edinburgh's Heriot Watt University campus on a fixed-term contract.

The successful candidate will train and mentor junior scientists, analyze seafloor data collected using advanced underwater vehicles and equipment, ensure high-quality reports, and contribute to innovation projects.

About the Role

You will have a key role in ensuring work meets the highest standards of quality, training, and appraisals. You will prepare technical reports using mapping software and ensure deadlines and budgets are met.

Your duties will include quality control of seafloor photographic data analysis, providing technical input into innovation projects, and producing high-quality technical reports.

Our company operates under strict QHSSE policies, and you will ensure all activities are carried out in line with these principles.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Science, Environmental Science, or relevant field;
  • Proven experience in writing and quality control of habitat assessments;
  • Expertise in benthic species identification and sensitive habitat assessments;
  • Experience in mentoring personnel;
  • Strong Microsoft Office and GIS skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
