Financial Controller

The Client

OCS Recruitment Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join their team. The client is a specialist RC Frame and Groundwork subcontractor with a turnover of £35m.

The Role

As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for leading and managing the finance and accounting team, assigning tasks, and setting priorities. You will generate and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and reconciliation of Profit and Loss and Balance sheet reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Preparation of budgets and cash flow requirements for the company and monitoring these for variances.
  • Maintenance of accounting records, including monthly reconciliation of Bank accounts, Debtors control, Creditors control, and Subcontractor controls.
  • Overseeing other members of the accounting department and monitoring their work.
  • Detailed Job costings of every construction project, including monthly CVR statements.
  • Collaboration with the commercial director and his team to manage and report on all aspects of financial control of Construction Projects.
  • Review and preparation of monthly payment schedules.
  • Preparation and posting of all accounting journal entries.
  • Assistance with preparation of year-end annual accounts and coordination of audit and dealing with the auditors.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports as required.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Development of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct of thorough financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
  • Cash Management: Management of cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational needs and investment opportunities.
  • Internal Controls: Establishment and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensuring compliance with tax regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Team Leadership: Management and mentorship of finance team members, providing guidance, training, and support to foster professional development and ensure high performance.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communication of financial results, forecasts, and recommendations to senior management, board of directors, investors, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in financial management, budgeting, and forecasting. They will be able to lead and manage a team, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with regulations.
