Job Title: Geo-Environmental Consultant

Carbon Zero Consulting is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Geosciences team, you will be responsible for undertaking, managing, and reporting on field work activities throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake, supervise, or review field work activities, including borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests, and groundwater pump tests.
  • Manage fieldwork activities and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed within budget and to the required standard.
  • Undertake project management duties, resolving technical issues and ensuring projects are delivered on time.
  • Write factual and interpretative reports, providing clear and concise information to clients.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manage a variety of geo-environmental and geotechnical projects for external clients and other teams within RSK.
  • Provide technical and scientific support at all stages of assigned projects, controlling project costs and ensuring quality.
  • Prepare and check technical notes, drawings, and geotechnical and geo-environmental reports.
  • Prepare proposals and tenders, contributing to business development activity.
  • Travel to other offices and sites within the UK as required.
Requirements:
  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Interest in field work and managing drilling and testing operations.
  • Aptitude for setting up field equipment, including electronics and car mechanics.
  • Ability to manually lift and assemble heavy or bulky field equipment.
  • Interest in geology and processes such as drilling and groundwater testing.
  • Interest in renewable energy technologies and their application.
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, GIS, and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK driving licence.
