Job Description: We are seeking a Lead Ophthalmic Surgical Nurse to join our theatre team at The Real Clinic. As a key member of our theatre team, you will work closely with ophthalmologists to provide exceptional patient care. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Leading the ophthalmic scrub team and providing guidance and support to junior staff members.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for the ophthalmic scrub team.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Ensuring compliance with NHS guidelines and protocols.
  • Providing expert care to patients undergoing ophthalmic surgical procedures.
  • Mentoring junior staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

About the Role: As a Lead Ophthalmic Surgical Nurse, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients. You will work closely with ophthalmologists to provide exceptional patient care, and you will be responsible for leading the ophthalmic scrub team. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must have

  • a valid NMC registration.
  • experience as an independent scrub nurse for ophthalmic procedures, including cataract and vitreoretinal surgery.
  • strong leadership skills.
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • the capacity to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • knowledge of NHS policies and procedures.
