We are recruiting a Workshop Shift Supervisor at Preston Workshop on a Permanent contract, with the potential to earn over £45,000 per annum.

Working Hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week (rotating shift pattern; week 1: 06:00 - 14:30 Mon - Fri, week 2: 06:00 - 14:30 Tues - Sat and week 3: 13:00 - 21:30 Mon - Fri). You will be required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays (with a weekday day off).

A Bit About the Role

As a Workshop Shift Supervisor at Royal Mail Group, you will play a pivotal supporting role to the Fleet Workshop Manager. You will lead operations across a shift in line with production planning and control requirements, deploying agreed processes and staff resources to ensure the Workshop operates safely and delivers high levels of quality and efficiency.


You will be responsible for leading Weekly Team Meetings, shift huddles and have involvement in the remedial approach to conduct issues whilst ensuring a Technician's wellbeing following return from sick absence.

You will perform a full range of inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair procedures on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment, when required.

You will use your own personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair light / heavy goods vehicles.

You will also have access to specialist tooling and shared equipment in our modern, fully equipped workshops.

You will perform effective stock control processes, ensuring accurate and timely completion of work orders and associated vehicle documentation to meet both business and legal requirements.

A Bit About You


Experienced Leader: you have managed a team of vehicle technicians with excellent knowledge of H&S and have the ability to communicate technical issues to the team.

Qualified Mechanic: you are fully qualified to an advanced level (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent). You have your own toolkit for standard repairs.

Varied Vehicle Experience: Proven Vehicle Technician experience working on a wide range of vehicles, for example LCV / HGV.

Valid UK Driving License: You hold a full manual UK driving license.

High Working Standards: you take pride in your work and do what is necessary to make sure the job is done effectively.

Flexible to Service Demands: you are able to work on a flexible shift rota. You are always willing to support your team where necessary.
