This is an exciting opportunity to join Hearst UK as a Deputy Chief Sub Editor, where you will play a key role in the production process of our Entertainment Portfolio, including weekly print titles best and Inside Soap.

As a Deputy Chief Sub Editor, you will be responsible for sub-editing and fitting layouts for all pages of best and Inside Soap magazine brands, as well as subbing newsletter, online and social media content across the Entertainment Portfolio.

You will work closely with the Chief Sub Editor to ensure that all content meets the highest standards of accuracy, tone, and style.

Key Responsibilities:

\u2022 Sub-editing and fitting layouts for all pages of best and Inside Soap magazine brands
\u2022 Subbing newsletter, online and social media content across the Entertainment Portfolio
\u2022 Meticulously checking facts and details to ensure accuracy
\u2022 Rewriting copy to improve clarity and flow
\u2022 Composing compelling display copy in keeping with house styles
\u2022 Subbing additional editorial or commercial content as needed
\u2022 Ensuring pages meet each brand's high standards in terms of tone and accuracy
\u2022 Sending pages to press and approving proofs
\u2022 Assisting the Chief Sub Editor in creating and adapting flatplans
\u2022 Assisting in building and maintaining an up-to-date style guide for each title

About You

We are looking for an experienced and skilled sub-editor who is passionate about delivering high-quality content.

Key Requirements:

\u2022 Experience on a consumer title
\u2022 Knowledge of best and Inside Soap and their readerships
\u2022 Experience using InDesign and CMS
\u2022 Accuracy and attention to detail
\u2022 Meticulous and organized
\u2022 Calm under pressure
\u2022 Capable of juggling several tasks at once
\u2022 Good initiative
