Specifications Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Specifications Manager to join our team at Hunter Savage. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of product specifications, ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation for due diligence and traceability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the creation and management of customer specifications, internal production specifications, raw material specifications (including ingredients, meats, and packaging), and quality attribute specifications.
- Maintain all systems and paperwork related to specifications, ensuring compliance and traceability throughout the production process.
- Perform technical checks and approve all artwork associated with product packaging.
- Ensure that critical paths are adhered to and deadlines are met for all specification-related projects.
- Manage the bill of materials and ensure accurate completion of commercial documentation for new products.
- Complete customer and factory specifications in the correct format, ensuring a right-first-time approach.
- Proofread technical data on raw material specifications, ensuring compliance with customer and legal standards while liaising with suppliers.
- Calculate and generate ingredient declarations for finished products in the required customer format.
- Estimate meat content of products using both theoretical methods (QUID) and laboratory analysis.
- Compile nutritional panels by analyzing laboratory data and raw material specifications to meet customer own-label requirements.
- Address customer queries as they arise, keeping up to date with specifications, labeling legislation, and relevant customer criteria.
- Present product specifications to customers during visits and audits, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Participate in problem-solving and project work as assigned, and attend meetings as required.
- Engage in continuous learning and undertake relevant courses to enhance team knowledge and skills.
- Travel to customer sites as needed for role-related duties.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong background in food specifications management within a food manufacturing environment.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant specification management software.
