Dorking, Surrey, United Kingdom Academics Full time

Role Overview

The Academics Trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teacher to join our team as a Primary Intervention Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people who require additional support with their social, emotional, and mental health.

About the School

The school is a specialist provision for children aged 9-16 years who have a range of learning and behavioural needs. Our students have a designated Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) which outlines their specific needs and requirements. As a member of our team, you will work closely with students who may struggle to form healthy relationships and exhibit high levels of anxiety and challenging behaviour.

What We Offer

As a Primary Intervention Specialist, you will have access to ongoing support and training through our award-winning academy trust. Our schools across Surrey, London, Sussex, and Berkshire share a commitment to excellence and provide a collaborative environment for staff to grow and develop their careers. This role is open to both experienced practitioners and recent graduates looking to kick-start their career in special needs education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering the primary curriculum as intervention lessons for KS3/4 aged pupils, bridging gaps in learning and addressing individual needs.
  • Working closely with students, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the development of our special needs provision.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and empathetic individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. As a Primary Intervention Specialist, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. A strong understanding of special needs education and experience working with children with social, emotional, and mental health challenges is essential.
