Job Description

Key Information

Location: St Neots, Cambridge

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours a week, hybrid working optional

Pico Technology is seeking an experienced FPGA Designer with proven HDL skills and expertise to develop innovative test and measurement solutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for engineering and enjoy working with like-minded professionals.

The perfect applicant will be a well-rounded FPGA Engineer to complement our dynamic High-End Scope Design team. Ideally from a high-tech electronic product design environment, the successful job holder will demonstrate mixed signal design skills and experience. Preference will be given to those with previous test equipment design experience.

We are looking for a highly skilled FPGA Design Engineer with a strong background in high-performance VHDL/Verilog FPGA design. The ideal candidate will have experience in digital and analogue hardware design, fault-finding, debugging, and familiarity with test methodologies and simulation tools. A solid understanding of mixed signal design and signal integrity is essential, along with a creative approach to problem-solving.

Desirable skills include experience with Xilinx or Altera FPGAs and associated tools, proficiency in firmware/software development (C, C++, C#), and familiarity with design for Test & Measurement or scientific markets. Experience with tools such as Vivado, Modelsim, Visual Studio, Git, and Jira, as well as scripting languages (Python, Perl, TCL), Clock Domain Crossing techniques, and High-Level Synthesis, will be an advantage.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and organised individual who can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams. The right candidate will be motivated, inquisitive, and driven by quality, with a proactive and flexible attitude to delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
