We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Disaster Response Coordinator. This exciting opportunity is with Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, where you will play a key role in enhancing community resilience in Mid Suffolk.

About the Role

This position offers an excellent chance to work in a collaborative environment with our Emergency Planning Officers and support the development of local Community Emergency Plans at a Town and Parish Council level.

As a Disaster Response Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to promote and support communities to encourage community resilience and business continuity in their local areas. You will also seek opportunities to engage with existing community events or meetings, as well as support the development and review of new and existing Community Emergency Plans.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with Community Emergency Planning Groups and partner agencies
  • Collaborate with the Suffolk Joint Emergency Planning Unit to provide a 24/7 out-of-hours duty service and initial emergency management capability
  • Support the District Council's response in the event of an emergency or serious threat to public wellbeing
