Job Title: Security Incident Response Officer

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is seeking a highly skilled Security Incident Response Officer to join its team. As a key member of the Security Incident Response Management Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of Defra's information and assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for incident response and management, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Assist in the response to major security incidents, including gathering and analyzing information, providing clear summaries to senior staff, and coordinating logistics.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service for Defra and other government departments.
  • Support investigations into security incidents, including collecting and compiling evidence, and providing recommendations to senior staff.
  • Triage incidents, applying a clear understanding of team scope and structure to ensure requests and incidents are handled appropriately.
Requirements:
  • Experience in managing security incidents and investigations, with knowledge of different domains of the Security profession.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Relevant qualifications in security or information security, such as BCS Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) or Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP).
