Clinical Lead for Counselling and Wellbeing

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse/allied health professional to join the CUH Stroke Research team and play a key role in the conduct of NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) stroke studies. You will work closely with the comprehensive stroke services at CUH, and with the internationally renowned stroke research unit within the University of Cambridge.

The team has a successful record of recruiting to a wide range of studies from hyper-acute stroke to prevention and rehabilitation studies, and is one of the highest stroke recruiting teams in England.

You will be responsible for ensuring all research is conducted according to ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines for the well-being of patient/study participants.

This post will require the successful applicant to work a shift pattern of Monday-Friday 9-5, which may be subject to change in the future.

ExperienceEssential
  • Relevant clinical experience at Band 5 or above.
  • Supervision of junior staff.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in a clinical research environment, e.g. Clinical Trials, participant recruitment and interviewing.
KnowledgeEssential
  • Knowledge of clinical research infrastructure in the UK and of research related legislation & regulation.
  • Knowledge of the role of the clinical research nurse, understanding the issues/process of gaining informed consent.
Desirable
  • Capable of writing reports and of presenting research related information to a wide audience.
  • Competent in research/database PC packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to develop good working relationships with diverse study participants, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
  • Good organisational, time & project management skills: and able to plan, prioritise & co-ordinate work under pressure.
  • Numerate with good IT skills, competent in standard PC packages (Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access).
Desirable
  • Assertiveness/perceptive counselling skills.
Additional RequirementsEssential
  • To act in a professional manner at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Capable of developing liaisons with other practice areas/academic institutions.
