About This Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to join our team at Digital Extremes Ltd. as a Lead Software Engineer. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of skilled programmers, managing multiple web projects, and overseeing all user interactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Own the technical architecture and delivery of all web products, including contributing code and reviewing the code of others.
  • Feature Implementation: Implement features as needed to support initiatives on the website.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented web programmers into a central web services team that can support multiple games as a service.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain and improve the existing systems and tools.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate and support initiatives from product managers and designers on the team.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments in the company to enhance and improve player experience on the site.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years of managing web teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Full-Stack Software Engineer with expertise and passion for the Laravel ecosystem and related libraries, tools, and best practices. Familiar with patterns related to running enterprise-volume sites such as CDNs, caching, queues, and localization. Experience writing middleware, coding against 3rd party APIs, and troubleshooting/debugging.
  • Web Project Experience: Experience with web projects that complement or extend Software as a Service or Games as a Service products - e-commerce, community, publishing, etc.
  • Source Control: Familiarity with source control tools and management (Git, Perforce).
  • Programming Languages: Fluency in one or more web programming languages (PHP, JavaScript, Python).
  • Server and Database Experience: Previous experience with working with servers and databases and containerization (Docker).
  • Build Pipelines: Previous experience with build pipelines and tooling (Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.).
