Economic Research Specialist

MCS Group is excited to be working in partnership with the Northern Ireland Assembly to find a highly skilled Research Officer specialising in Economics.
The Role:- Collaborate with MLAs, Assembly Committees, and Officials to scope research requirements and synthesise information from diverse sources.
- Retrieve and process data from various online databases to deliver high-quality, impartial research and analysis on economic topics, including public finance.
- Produce well-written, concise research outputs, such as papers, training materials, and digital dashboards, that address policy, legislation, and public finance.
- Present research findings to MLAs, staff, Assembly Committee Members, and Officials, responding to their questions and contributing to public sessions.
- Peer-review RaISe colleagues' research outputs and identify potential witnesses and specialist advisors for Assembly Committees.
- Maintain expertise in the research portfolio through ongoing learning and development, tracking relevant developments and attending seminars and conferences.
- Support colleagues in placements, internships, and new staff, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Establish and develop relationships with departmental officials, external research bodies, academics, and RaISe counterparts.
- Comply with Assembly policies, procedures, and practices, including those related to Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the Assembly Commission.
Applicants must possess a second-class honours degree (or equivalent) with at least 50% of the course content related to policy development or law-making in economics, including public finance.
Additionally, applicants must have at least two years of work experience in conducting objective research on economic issues, producing and delivering evidence-based research findings, and collaborating with stakeholders.
