About the Role

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced consultant ophthalmologist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients, leading clinical teams, and contributing to the development of our ophthalmic services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical opinions on a range of ophthalmic problems, both emergency and elective.
  • Run independent operating lists and teach cataract surgery.
  • Take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients.
  • Prioritize clinical needs and supervise multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and staff.

Person Specification

  • FRCOphth or equivalent qualification.
  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practice.
  • Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent).
  • IELTS or graduate of a UK Medical School.
  • Name on Specialist Register by date of interview or within 6 months of CCT.
